But I am not sure if that innocence had a reality, even then. But absolutely true about DD and memorable moments. The fact that back then we were not so spoilt for choice, I think, made us appreciate what we had on television much more. That, and the lack of reality TV, I guess ;)crumbshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17859064028034751891noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17222128.post-36669970469712021772010-03-02T19:09:49.591+05:302010-03-02T19:09:49.591+05:30Oh yes, I remember the original. Maybe it does now as well, but we get to see so little of it while stars hog the landscape our minds on media and otherwise.

Come to think of it, DD did give us more memorable moments than we would care to admit or acknowledge.Anil Phttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02422187314611747278noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17222128.post-48424677130936838882010-02-20T22:14:50.392+05:302010-02-20T22:14:50.392+05:30This comment has been removed by a blog administrator.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17222128.post-7770451009447074722010-02-20T01:45:54.384+05:302010-02-20T01:45:54.384+05:30This comment has been removed by a blog administrator.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17222128.post-39859460029010878182010-02-06T13:25:49.294+05:302010-02-06T13:25:49.294+05:30I also dont like PMSMT, but it is ok. But I guess it is for those people who have not seen the older one, and may be they like this, because they dont have anything else to look at it against.

So it is ok. The problem for me is that thanks to this ...@ Tsu,

The problem for me is that thanks to this song, I will neve be able to look at the old version with delusional innocence anymore. And that, like you said, for an entire bunch of Indians, this will be going forward.

When I asked why we are assuming that we need a silver lining, I meant why are we assuming this is a mess? :) I don't think I believe there was a "happy past" anymore. We just were a li'l less aware of the mess then, so the silver line looked brighter. Anyways, when one looks back, things always apprear in shiny light, dont they?

@ Wapscallion

But then, what WOULD capture India 2010? The problem here is that there is no one India 2010, like there is probably no one 2010. So any attempt to sell the unity in diversity pill, will now fall flat. There is only diversity, and that too of a curious kind. We might as well accept that and move on.

@ Lash

As always.crumbshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17859064028034751891noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17222128.post-24915181259930759092010-02-05T23:29:37.758+05:302010-02-05T23:29:37.758+05:30too much tv..too much tv..Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17222128.post-57806442708210616812010-02-05T15:07:09.647+05:302010-02-05T15:07:09.647+05:30PMSMT!!!Absolute absolute rubbish. How did they ever think they could outshine the original? The bloody doofuses. I think the current lot of us Indians should simply stop trying so hard. We already have horrible sounding remixes (some, very few - counting one hand's finger tips good remixes I still continue to hear) and reproductions of beautiful 'firsts'.
Mile Sur has joined the group that is all.
